Office space, Berkshire and regional success

Regional business development is one of any UK government’s prime objectives and one of the most successful counties in the UK is Berkshire. This is little known amongst the general population because the media tends not believe success stories. When it comes to office space, Berkshire has plenty to offer, especially in the hot business location of Slough where a hybrid mix of dynamic UK starts-ups and global champions sit side by side, all concentrating on generating business and profits.
Slough is set in the Thames Valley corridor and much of its office space is new and purpose-built. It therefore tends to create a feeling of ‘can-do’ optimism that perhaps an older more established area cannot. The office space, Berkshire offers is newer, more confident and somehow more ‘entrepreneurial’. It may not always have the architectural and historical charm of the city of London, but it does spell enterprise. According to the Slough-based Oriel office business centre, this very lack of historical precedence tends to make business starts ups bolder and less frightened of failure. Its own offices, for example, are bright, open and purpose built; there is no ‘baggage’ attached to them.
Says an Oriel spokesperson; “We like the idea that our client can be anything they want to be, IT, financial, creative, pharmaceutical…whatever. In more established business locations, newer companies can sometimes feel inhibited by the success and nature of existing businesses around them. In short, Slough is an open book. So perhaps, one of the reasons for the diversity of business in this region is directly linked to the nature of the office space Berkshire offers.”
